Required Skill Sets:

Responsible for managing part of the Application Services Category complete Infrastructure category which includes the following areas of spend:
  • Application Development services
  • Testing services
  • Application support services
  • Other ad-hoc application services and consultancy
  • System integrator services
  • Responsible for category strategy and planning with focus on both sourcing and strategic supplier relationship management
  • Responsible for leading the end to end sourcing processes (complex and simple) for the category
  • Accountable for the successful commercial and contractual completion of sourcing projects
  • Required to work with stakeholders to gather requirements, develop sourcing strategies and make all necessary arrangements to ensure that cost, risk and service requirements are met
  • Required to develop a pipeline of sourcing activities in line with contract expiry dates, potential cost saving opportunities and new change projects
  • Accountable for ensuring consistent application of value levers
  • Articulate and disseminate agreed terms and key operational aspects of the contract (ensure all parties know what they have to do post transition).
  • Responsible for building relationships with key stakeholders in the Application Services category and prioritizing their needs
  • Demonstrating best practice across sourcing and supplier management disciplines
  • Responsible for ensuring that critical suppliers within the infrastructure category are identified and properly managed in line with the XL Catlin SRM approach in ensure full benefits realization and risk management
  • Required to negotiate complex sourcing contracts with suppliers to achieve best value
  • Be expected to drive continuous improvement and innovation through supplier relationship management with strategic suppliers

Person Specification:
  • Extensive experience in Application services sourcing, including dealing with complex offshore outsourcing relationships and complex system implementation deals
  • Impressive track record of progression within your IT sourcing career to date
  • Previous experience in supporting large and complex IT change programme needs (e.g. procurement of complex offshore outsourcing arrangements)
  • Previous experience in financial services (insurance preferred)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A self-starter who leads from the front on sourcing projects
  • Ability to communicate key commercial considerations and risks to stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and growing organization where the control environment is maturing and where there is therefore a need to be flexible and pragmatic
  • Very experienced in reviewing and drafting service contracts, statements of work, software license terms and contract changes / variations.
  • Able to manage and prioritize a busy pipeline and work on multiple sourcing projects simultaneously
  • Degree-level education or MCIPS
