Position: Engineer (Plastics and Containers)
Location: Ogden, UT
Duration: 12 months


PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Conducts research and development work of innovative products for patients with end-stage-renal-disease (ESRD). Engineer will work in close coordination with the manufacturing department.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Executes projects with clear objectives and timely deliverables.
  • Understand the goals and contents of research projects. 
  • Applies Design Control regulations to product development.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams on new product development and manufacturing problem-solving efforts.
  • Self-motivate to improve knowledge related to research projects by continuous assessment of current publications.
  • Contributes to the generation of ideas and potential inventions to be used in new products.
  • Contributes design solutions to complex, multi-disciplinary problems.
  • Develops and gives presentations dealing with projects, proposals, designs and project status updates. - Hands-on involvement with fabrication and processing.
  • Maintains good documentation practices for all data forms, protocols, engineering and feasibility reports, and laboratory notebooks.
  • Develops new techniques and test protocols.
  • Develops qualification test plans.
  • Develops detailed engineering specifications. - Writes SOPs and perform validations on test methods.
  • Sets up, adjusts and operates production equipment and analysis instruments.
  • Maintain general housekeeping of working area and plant.
  • Builds stable working relationships internally.
  • Normally receives specific, detailed instructions on all work.
  • May refer to senior staff, if applicable, for assistance with day-to-day problems that may arise.
  • Escalates issues to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemed necessary.
  • Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned. Additional responsibilities may include focus on one or more departments or locations. See applicable addendum for department or location specific functions.

Occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. - Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. - May be required to use toxic or caustic materials and/or be exposed to the fumes or airborne particles up to 1/4 of the time, including but not limited to the following: Diluted Formaldehyde, Diluted Glutaraldehyde, DMAC, Cyclohexanone, Acetone, and Isopropyl Alcohol. - May also be required to use bovine blood and serum and human blood products. - Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended. - Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. - The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelors Degree required

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • 0 - 2 years related experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient with PCs and Microsoft Office applications.
