PURPOSE AND SCOPE: 

The Quality Assurance Manager will provide general supervision and technical guidance to the Quality Assurance (QA) Staff in the analysis, design, testing, and deployment of all applications. The Quality Assurance Manager maintains ultimate responsibility for assuring that all products are defect free and compliant with technical specifications. 

 

Data Quality Focus:
  • Oversees the testing of  data mapping, data transformation and data quality  from Source to Target.
  • Reviews and provides input on software functional requirement definitions.
  • Creates the test strategy document and leads the review of the document.
  • Reports test status and metrics to senior management and cross functional team members
  • 8+ years of experience in quality assurance and software testing including 5+ years as a Team Lead and/or Software QA Manager in the Data Testing & Analysis space.
  • Have a strong technical background with Oracle and SQL Server Databases.
  • Fluent in writing complex SQL Scripts (Multi-Join, Unions) using Toad, WinSQL and SQL Developer.
  • Proven experience with dimensional data models.
  • Experience with the unique data-driven testing approaches used in the Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence.
  • Experience working with ALM Quality Center and JIRA.
  • Familiar with Test Automation and Performance Testing methodologies
  • Previous experience directing and coordinating the work of other QA Analysts.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor junior staff and foster employee career growth.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management and cross functional team members.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, problem resolution and analytical skills. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of QA process and testing methodology including unit, integration, system, and acceptance testing.
  • Experience participating in requirements reviews and writing detailed test plans and test cases based on the requirements.
  • Hands on experience performing manual testing, logging defects and working through resolution and closure of the defects.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Participates as a member of the Software Development Life Cycle team from initiation through release following the Waterfall and/or Agile development methodologies. 
  • Participates in project meetings with cross functional team members. 
  • Reviews and provides input on software functional requirement definitions. 
  • Creates the test strategy document and leads the review of the document. 
  • Reports test status and metrics to senior management and cross functional team members. 
  • Drives the support and adherence to all departmental standards, including project estimating, test strategies, test plan writing, execution, and related documentation.  
  • Manages the activities of a QA team that includes both full time employees and contractors spanning a variety of software applications and systems.  
  • Partners with QA management to drive continuous improvement and efficiency through process enhancement, automation, and efficient use of on-shore and off-shore QA resources. 
  • Manages and mentors QA staff including mid-year and annual staff appraisals and performance reviews. 
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring and development plans for all direct reports to maintain an engaged and productive workforce; partnering with Human Resources on employee matters. 
  • Interacts with internal departments and external customers as needed; particularly in problem resolution.  Acts as an advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.   
  • Assist with various projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

SUPERVISION: 

Responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of department quality assurance staff. 

 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’ s Degree required; IT discipline preferred. 

 

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:  
  • 8+ years of related experience in quality assurance and software testing including 3+ years as a Team Lead and/or Software QA Manager 
  • Previous experience directing and coordinating the work of other QA Analysts.

  • Experience writing SQL queries in Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server. 
  • Experience testing in web based environments. 
  • Experience testing reports. 
  • Experience working with HP ALM Quality Center 
  • Familiar with Test Automation and Performance Testing using the HP tools (or other industry standard tools) 
  • Financial and clinical healthcare testing background required.
